Ingredients
2 tablespoons dried thyme 1 tablespoon dried oregano 1 ½ tablespoons sumac 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted¼ teaspoon salt
Before You Begin
Try sprinkling some of this Middle Eastern spice mix over olive oil as a dip for bread. You can also use it in grain dishes or as a flavorful topping for hummus or other dips.
Instructions
- Process thyme and oregano in spice grinder or mortar and pestle until finely ground and powdery. Transfer to bowl and stir in sumac, sesame seeds, and salt. (Za’atar can be stored at room temperature in airtight container for up to 1 year.)
