Stocking a Party Pantry

Stocking a Party Pantry

Keeping a stock of items like these can come in handy if you’re ever in a pinch to host a last-minute party.

A party pantry isn't just for pop-up events, though; these staples can also get pulled into service if an appetizer emergency arises—like that hot appetizer that burnt, or a dip you just dropped on the floor. It’s always good to have a back up plan!

1. Puff Pastry

Frozen puff pastry is a real workhorse; it's one of the easiest shortcuts to elegant hors d'oeuvres, from tarts to wrapped bites.

2. Prosciutto

Add prosciutto to cheese or antipasto platters. It also pairs well with sweet ingredients, like figs or dates. Unopened packs keep in the fridge for months.

3. Olives

Olives are a classic party snack. You can make your own Marinated Olives, but jarred olives are handy in a pinch.

4. Roasted Red Peppers

Pick a jar packed in a simple salt and water brine. Blend into a dip or slice on top of a tart.

5. Jams and Preserves

A jar of jam in an interesting flavor is a great addition to a cheese plate, simple canapé, or baked Brie recipe.

6. Whole Nuts

Plain or spiced nuts are an easy way to add substance and flavor to your menu. Store in the freezer to avoid rancidity.

7. Crackers

Crackers are a necessary pairing with cheese and can also form the base of a quick canapé.
