What prepared Thanksgiving foods are worth buying at supermarkets?

What prepared Thanksgiving foods are worth buying at supermarkets?

Why you should know this: Made from scratch isn’t always better, especially when you’re juggling many dishes. These premade foods are absolute time-savers.

1

Frozen Dinner Rolls

Having dinner rolls on your Thanksgiving buffet is a real treat, but baking them from scratch can feel daunting. Plus there are some delicious frozen dinner rolls within reach.

Our favorite is Pepperidge Farm Stone Baked Artisan French Dinner Rolls.

It was the only brand in our taste test fully cooked at the factory in a stone oven, which yielded the crispiest, lightest rolls.

2

Ready-Made Pie Crusts

At the end of a meal like Thanksgiving, who’s going to know?!

Our favorite is Pillsbury’s Refrigerated Pie Crust.

“Flaky,” “buttery,” and “user-friendly,” this product met all our requirements for an ideal supermarket crust.

It fit perfectly in our pie plate right out of the package, with “plenty of overhang” that allowed us to make “picture-perfect” crimped edges.

Tasters loved its “light,” “crispy” texture and “clean,” “toasty” flavor that “allowed the filling to shine.”

3

Canned Pumpkin

Canned pumpkin has great flavor and can stand in for fresh, just be sure you’re getting plain pumpkin and not the spiced or sweetened versions.

Our favorites are Libby's Canned Pumpkin and One-Pie Canned Pumpkin.
