Time

Yield
Makes one 9-inch crust
Ingredients
16 Oreo cookies, broken into rough pieces4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
Before You Begin
Other brands of chocolate sandwich cookies may be substituted, but avoid “double-filled” cookies as the proportion of cookie to filling won't be correct.
Instructions
- Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 325 degrees. Pulse cookies in food processor until coarsely ground, about 15 pulses, then process to fine, even crumbs, about 15 seconds. Sprinkle melted butter over crumbs and pulse to incorporate, about 5 pulses.
- Sprinkle mixture into 9-inch pie plate. Using bottom of dry measuring cup, press crumbs into even layer on bottom and sides of pie plate. Bake until crust is fragrant and appears set, 13 to 18 minutes; transfer to wire rack. Following particular pie recipe, use crust while it is still warm or let it cool completely.

Why This Recipe Works
Looking for just the right source for the crumbs, we found our answer right in the cookie aisle. Oreo cookies, the childhood favorite, offered just the right balance of dark, rich chocolate crumbs and a texture that was neither too dry nor too moist once processed.
