Candied Nuts

Candied Nuts

Ingredients

1 cup nuts, toasted¼ cup (1¾ ounces/50 grams) sugar ¼ cup water ½ teaspoon table salt

Before You Begin

You can use any nut you'd like in this recipe.

Instructions

  1.  Line rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Bring all ingredients to boil in medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until water evaporates and sugar appears dry, opaque, and somewhat crystallized and evenly coats nuts, about 5 minutes.
  2.  Reduce heat to low and continue to stir nuts until sugar is amber-colored, about 2 minutes longer. Transfer nuts to prepared sheet and spread in even layer. Let cool completely, about 10 minutes.

Why This Recipe Works

A very easy way to achieve this is to sprinkle on some toasted nuts, but to take this topping to the next level we like to candy the nuts for a toasty, sweet, salty treat that's much easier to achieve than you'd think.
