Why This Recipe Works
Built in the same fashion as the Daiquiri—a classic sour consisting of a spirit, citrus, and sugar—the southside swaps out rum for more-botanical gin. The balance of tart and sweet from lime juice and Simple Syrup is freshened up with a handful of mint added right to the shaker. The mint gets enough bruising during the shaking process to release its aromatic oils into the drink, providing a bright, clean herbaceousness. After one sip of this pale green drink, served elegantly straight up, we think you'll be making this cocktail no matter what geography you find yourself in.
