Why This Recipe Works

For this refreshing and fruit-forward creation, we drew inspiration from the Singapore sling, a colorful fruity-herbal gin-based drink that may contain some combination of pineapple, orange, or lime juice, orange liqueur, cherry liqueur, and Bénédictine (an aromatic herbal, honey, and spice liqueur). In our drink, we liked the harmonious ratio of equal parts orange juice and pineapple juice, with just a touch of tart acidity from lime juice to balance their sweetness. To amp up our drink's herbal qualities, we added a handful of fresh mint to the shaker, making our drink distinctively refreshing. Finally, to give our spirit-free cocktail that wow factor, we topped it with a pour of grenadine, which diffused its sweet-tart pomegranate flavor and ruby-red color throughout the entire drink as it gradually settled to the bottom of the glass, creating an ombré effect with shades of light orange, red, and crimson. And since there's no alcohol, we've never been happier to ask for another.
