Why This Recipe Works
To enjoy Limoncello in a simple vodka martini–style cocktail is another pleasure altogether—drier and more subdued, our elegant Limontini is designed to be imbibed before your meal, along with a few bites of something savory, to awaken the appetite. We tested numerous combinations of limoncello, vodka, vermouth, simple syrup, and bitters, but time and time again tasters chose the simple combination of vodka and limoncello. Adding a bit of lemon juice to punch up this duo encouraged the sweet-tart citrus liqueur to shine without distraction. So to perfect our drink, it was simply a matter of finding the right ratio: 1 ounce of limoncello to 1½ ounces of vodka provided just the right amount of sweetness and lemony bite. To accentuate the citrus aroma even more, we garnished our Limontini with a simple twist.
