Why This Recipe Works

Martinis are savory cocktails. To up the savor more, we muddle a variety of herbs—grassy parsley, cooling mint, and citrusy dill. Using vodka instead of gin allows the fresh flavors to come through without having to compete with gin’s botanicals. Increasing the amount of dry vermouth from our standard martini ratio creates a slightly wetter martini that makes this drink more refreshing. You can garnish the martini with extra herbs if desired.

Instructions

  1. Add 2 tablespoons fresh dill fronds, 2 tablespoons fresh parsley leaves, and 2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves to mixing glass and muddle until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add 2 ounces vodka and 1 ounce vermouth, then fill three-quarters full with ice. Using bar spoon, stir until mixture is fully combined and well chilled, about 1 minute.
  2. Double-strain cocktail into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon twist and serve.
