Sugar Syrup

Ingredients
Plain Sugar Syrup
1 cup water 1 cup granulated sugarAdditional Flavorings
½ vanilla bean, with scraped seeds3 ounces fresh blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries2 inch piece ginger, cut into 4 coins2 teaspoons grated lemon zest, lime, or orangeBefore You Begin
Store in the refrigerator.
Instructions
- Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Set the pan over medium heat and whisk frequently until the sugar dissolves completely. Bring to a simmer.
- For flavored syrup, add flavorings of your choice. Simmer for 4 minutes, remove from the heat, and cool. Strain the flavorings out of the syrup once it cools.
