Hoisin-Sesame Sauce

Hoisin-Sesame Sauce

Ingredients

2 tablespoons sesame oil ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger 1 medium clove garlic, minced¼ cup hoisin sauce 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar 2 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoons orange juice, fresh1 teaspoon ground coriander ½ teaspoon five-spice powder

Before You Begin

This thick sauce is best with grilled or broiled shrimp or scallops; it's also great with salmon. Just before serving, you can sprinkle thinly sliced scallions and toasted sesame seeds over the sauce.

Instructions

  1. Heat oil with pepper flakes in small skillet. Add ginger and garlic; saute until softened, 1 to 2 minutes. Pour this flavored oil into small bowl; stir in remaining ingredients. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Why This Recipe Works
