All-Purpose White Glaze

All-Purpose White Glaze

Ingredients

2 cups (8 ounces/227 grams) confectioners' sugar 3 tablespoons milk 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened

Before You Begin

To color, stir drops of food coloring into the glaze until it reaches the desired tint. For a citrus-flavored glaze, substitute orange, lemon, or lime juice for the milk. The glaze can also be flavored with ½ teaspoon of your favorite extract.

Instructions

  1. Whisk all ingredients together until smooth. Spread glaze onto completely cooled cookies. Let glaze dry completely, about 30 minutes, before serving.

Why This Recipe Works

For an all-purpose glaze that could dress up our holiday butter cookies, we found the perfect sweetness and creaminess from the right amount of confectioners' sugar. A combination of milk and cream cheese gave our All-Purpose White Glaze recipe creaminess and a perfectly spreadable texture.
