Italian Chicken Sausage Pizzas

Ingredients
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil 1 pound pizza dough ½ cup jarred marinara sauce 8 ounces hot or sweet Italian chicken sausage, casings removed8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded (2 cups)1 ounce Pecorino Romano cheese, grated (½ cup)2 jarred hot cherry peppers, halved, seeded, and sliced thin¼ cup chopped fresh basil
Before You Begin
We developed this recipe using Rao's Homemade Marinara Sauce.
Instructions
- Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 500 degrees. Brush rimmed baking sheet with oil (use all of it).
- Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece of dough into 5 by 7-inch rectangle and transfer to prepared sheet. Spread 2 tablespoons marinara on each rectangle, leaving ½-inch border. Break sausage into ½-inch chunks and divide evenly among rectangles. Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella and Pecorino.
- Bake until cheese is spotty brown and crust is golden, 12 to 14 minutes. Let pizzas cool on sheet for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with cherry peppers and basil. Serve.
