We like to use our Roasted Garlic for this recipe. A supermarket loaf of Italian bread, which has a soft, thin crust and fine crumb, works best here. Do not use a rustic or crusty artisan-style loaf.
Instructions
- Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 400 degrees. Using fork, combine butter, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, pepper, and salt in bowl.
- Spread butter mixture evenly on cut side of bread. Place bread on rimmed baking sheet, cut side up. Bake until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Transfer bread to cutting board. Cut each half crosswise into 8 pieces. Serve warm.

Why This Recipe Works
To make this simple classic, we used a store-bought loaf of Italian bread split in half lengthwise. Then, using a fork, we made a spread with softened butter, Parmesan cheese, our Roasted Garlic, and chopped fresh parsley. After evenly spreading the butter mixture on the bread, we baked the bread until it was golden brown, cut it into eight pieces, and served it warm.
