Why This Recipe Works

During our deep dive into infused spirits, we experimented with more than 30 different fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, and other foods—some with more success than others (let’s just say that Parmesan vodka and oyster gin won’t be making a comeback). We love all of our infused spirits, but one might stand out above the rest: cantaloupe-infused vodka. Even when using out-of-season, underripe fruit, the result is astonishing: pure, sweet, peak-season melon flavor in liquid form. With such a stellar base, we knew simplicity in the cocktail build was key. To subtly sweeten the cocktail, a touch of orange liqueur was an ideal choice. Its delicate citrus aroma enhanced the vodka’s melon essence, making each sip taste even fresher.
