There’s something about a BLT that makes for the perfect vacation sandwich. Stopping by a diner on a road trip? BLT. Sitting by an unfamiliar shoreline admiring the waves? BLT. Trying out the local restaurant at lunch and looking for a surefire bet? I have three letters for you.
But sometimes we BLT lovers need a little bit of variety, and that’s where these recipes come in. From salads to burgers, you can take the humble bacon, lettuce, and tomato and reimagine them as something entirely new.

BLT Salad
Who says the bread in your next BLT can’t be shatteringly crispy, deeply seasoned croutons? Pack in your nutrients with this simple yet decadently flavorful dinner salad that might be even better than the original thing.
Tossing your tomatoes with salt and pepper after chopping them (to pull a bit of moisture out of them) ensures that your salad doesn’t get too watery, while the croutons are cooked in the bacon fat to make them ultrasavory, amping up the bacon flavor. But what about the mayo, you might ask? Don’t worry, there’s some in the dressing (along with garlic and Dijon for punch).
But don’t take our word for it.
“This was a fantastic salad, and easy to put together. My husband (who’s not a big salad fan) proclaimed that this might be the best salad he’s ever eaten, and is requesting to have it again, soon,” subscriber Mollie O. said after making this salad.
“This did not just taste like a salad with bacon and tomato. It legitimately tastes like an excellent BLT. So good,” Paul B said of this delicious meal.

Add a little bit of Southern flair with bacon, lettuce, and fried green tomatoes, all loaded into a sumptuous sandwich. The key to fried tomatoes that aren’t soggy, but instead well-seasoned and perfectly crispy, is to toss them with salt and sugar and allow some of the moisture to be drawn out before breading and frying.
Dredging the fresh tomatoes in breading fortified by Old Bay spice ensures maximum flavor and encases them in a deliciously crunchy shell. Finally, a tangy mayo—bolstered by a few shakes of Tabasco—is slathered on a brioche roll that will encase the fried tomatoes, lettuce, and bacon for the perfect BLT-inspired meal.

Potatoes become the perfect addition to the classic BLT trio in a potato salad. This easy-to-make-ahead salad employs the flavor powerhouses of the BLT ingredients to saturate Yukon Gold potatoes. Halved cherry tomatoes, which are sweet all year round, add a little fun to the salad. The dish is dressed in a creamy and tangy mayo dressing that highlights the freshness and salty savor from the rest of the salad.

If you add the bacon, lettuce, and tomato in a slapdash manner, the dish will suffer. The best BLT potato salad requires a little TLC.
