8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened¼ cup packed (1¾ ounces) light brown sugar ¾ teaspoon ground cardamom ½ teaspoon table salt

This recipe is inspired by Asha Gomez's cardamom cornbread in her book My Two Souths: Blending the Flavors of India into a Southern Kitchen (2016). Serve with our Fresh Corn Muffins.

Why This Recipe Works
Mashing softened butter with brown sugar and cardamom made a flavor-packed compound butter. We loved it slathered on our Fresh Corn Muffins, but it was also good spread on toast, salmon, or chicken.
